Banned Paris faces jail for speeding

Paris Hilton could face a jail sentence after she was arrested for speeding in her car on a suspended licence.

The 26-year-old socialite was driving her blue 2007 Bentley Continental GTC Convertible with the headlights turned off along Sunset Strip in Hollywood yesterday evening when officers reportedly pulled the heiress over.

A spokesman from LA Sheriff 's Headquarters Bureau said: "Officers became suspicious when they saw a car speeding along Sunset Boulevard with no headlights on.

"She was arrested for driving on a suspended licence, which is a misdemeanour. Her car was impounded and she was cited and released."

The police said Hilton was alone and there was no sign of drink or drugs. Sources say the offence could result in jail or a $1,000 fine. A court date was not immediately set.

She was on her way home from buying DVDs at Virgin Megastores in West Hollywood after spending the day at home for a photo shoot, her publicist Elliot Mintz said.

Mintz said Hilton didn't realise the headlights were not on because she had just left a brightly lit parking structure.

Last month the star was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to attend an alcohol programme after pleading guility to drunk driving in September.

Jade donates £25k to Indian children's charity

Jade Goody has donated £25,000 to an Indian charity that cares for children who run away from their homes.

Goody spent nearly 90 minutes with some of the children at the 'Anubhav' or 'Experience' charity in the Indian capital.

"I am not giving the money to improve my image. It is to improve the lives of the underprivileged children," she told reporters.
Goody said she was donating to charities whatever she earned from appearing on the TV show and subsequent media interviews.

Indian Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty won the TV reality contest, Celebrity Big Brother, after being confined in a house for about three weeks with Goody and other participants.

Goody outraged the public and sparked allegations of racism after she bad-mouthed Shetty's cooking of Indian food and mocked her accent.

After the British public voted to evict Goody from the reality TV show in January, she insisted that she was not racist.

Bhagwagar said Shetty hasn't dwelled on the incident.

"Shilpa doesn't hold grudges or animosity against anyone," Bhagwagar said. "She has moved on after 'Big Brother'."
The Indian Tourism Office had placed advertisements in several British newspapers inviting Goody to experience the healing nature of India.

However, Goody said she was in India on a private visit.

Yesterday the couple remained coy about whether they had decided to hold their March 8 ceremony there. But hotel staff said frantic preparations were under way for a celebrity wedding.

"None of us are being told much but we have heard a famous Hollywood actress is marrying an Indian businessman here," one said.

"The couple will stay with the royal family in their private quarters at the back of the palace but I think their guests will stay in the attached hotel."

Another said: "We have been told an Indian businessman called Mr Nayar is marrying here on March 8."

Mr Nayar's stepmother Joanne said the ceremony would be an "elaborate" affair and confirmed it would be held in Jodhpur, where the palace is a key attraction.

"After the British wedding on March 3, the couple will be going to Mumbai for a couple of private parties," she said.

"But the main wedding ceremony, which will obviously be an elaborate one, will be in Jodhpur.

"These festivities will go on for a week until March 10. The wedding itself will be a very low-key, private affair with no more than 200 guests.

"Arun and Liz make a fine couple. They are both high achievers in their own right and I cannot wait to welcome Liz into the family."

It is thought Mr Nayar, 43, will arrive for the ceremony on a white horse, flanked by family members on camels and elephants.

Miss Hurley, 41, in a £4,000 pink silk sari from Indian couturier Tarun Tahiliani, is expected to exchange vows with him in a flower-filled pavilion in the palace grounds.

Guests will apparently dine on Indian, Mexican, Italian and Continental foods from three Michelin-starred chefs flown over from Britain.

Sources in Mumbai said Mr Nayar's mother Gunay was a "whirling dervish of energy and focus" as she prepared for the party, which is estimated to cost more than £1million.

One friend said: "She is determined not to be outdone in the glamour stakes. She knows the English wedding is going to be held in a beautiful mansion and what better than to have the maharajah host the Indian wedding in his own palace? This is going to be one extravagant affair."

Although the royal family still live in the palace, part of the vast building has been converted into a deluxe hotel.

It is thought the couple has been invited to stay in the private quarters of the maharajah, His Highness Gaj Singh, while their guests will take over the hotel, which charges up to £2,000 a night.

Britney Spears is reported to have walked out the rehab facility she checked into, just 24 hours after seeking treatment.

Following months of bizarre behaviour which culminated in her shaving off all her hair Britney entered Promises treatment centre in Malibu, California.

However, sources now say that Britney has now left the treatment centre after spending less than 24 hours in the facility.

The 25-year-old singer shocked the public by shaving off her brown hair. She claimed it was because of 'lice'.

This was her second attempt at rehab. Last week, she checked into Eric Clapton's Crossroads rehab clinic in Antigua - but again stayed only 24 hours.

Britney's erratic behaviour seemed to have started in 2004 when she married childhood friend Jason Alexander.

It was annulled after only 55 hours. Later that same year she married Kevin Federline, but filed for divorce last November and set off on a wild round of partying.

But it was the head-shaving incident that seemed to prove she was over the edge.

Britney reportedly sought rehab after a showdown with her mother, who was said to be at "breaking point".

A source said: "She thought lice were eating her hair extensions, so decided to get rid of them as soon as possible."

A source said: "Her mother cries and begs Britney to calm down, but Britney just yells at her and tells her to mind her own business."

Britney had voluntarily checked herself into the luxurious rehab facility.

It has been a busy few days in the increasingly erratic world of Britney Spears.

And if these latest images are anything to go by, the 25-year-old shows no sign of slowing down, or indeed levelling out her behaviour.

Her shaven head hidden beneath of cheap blonde wig, and large Elvis-style sunglasses covering her bloated face, Britney heads out partying yet again.

Another whirl of nightclubs, this time the Roxy and Polo Lounge on Hollywood's Sunset Strip, did little to allay fears that Miss Spears is spiralling rapidly towards a nervous breakdown.

She stormed out of the first after 45 minutes when the DJ at the karaoke-themed night started playing her first hit Hit Me Baby One More Time in her honour.

Fellow clubbers noticed how she continually broke off from her group to go to the toilet cubicle, each time returning looking increasingly unhinged.

Miss Spears had not been seen in public since Saturday afternoon, when she drifted into celebrity haunt the Mondrian Hotel, also on Sunset Boulevard, startling residents with her bizarre behaviour.

At 1pm on that day the popstar arrived alone - this time in a blue wig - and tried unsuccessfully to book a room, since she had neither money nor a credit car, just a piece of paper carrying a partial credit card number.

A source told the Mail: 'She was crying and apparently intoxicated. She kept saying: "Nobody wants me anymore".

A couple of tourists felt sorry for her and took her upstairs to their room. Then they took her to the gift shop, she went back and forth trying on three different bathing suits.

'But bizarrely she then went to the pool and tried to shave her legs. She also went to the hotel restaurant Asia of Cuba for a rest on a chair.

'After that, she tried to get a room again and couldn't get one. She was obviously intoxicated and the hotel didn't want to be responsible for what she would have done in the room.

'She then tried to get a rental car but with no I.D. she was again denied. She was hysterical saying things like, "Nobody wants me" over and again.

'The staff were stunned. she clearly needed medical help but no one knew what to do with her. She was alone and left about 4pm.'

Miss Spears hit headlines at the weekend when she booked into a rehab unit in the Caribbean. The Mail has learnt the trip to rehab was on her mother's insistence.

On Wednesday of last week her mother Lynn - the orchestrator of her career - staged an intervention when she found her daughter incapacitated and sprawled out on the floor in the middle of the day.

According to a source she had been 'partying heavily and was completely out of it'.

Lynn Spears is then understood to have threatened her 25-year-old daughter that she would take her two children from her unless she checked into rehab.

She would spend just 24-hours at the Crossroads rehabilitation facility in Antigua before returning to California.

She subsequently had a furious row with her mother - then in Louisiana - over the telephone.

Hours later, she was to be found shaving off her own hair at a salon, then later having two new tattoos etched into her midriff.

A friend of Miss Spears said that she had been 'thriving on the publicity of her recent behaviour'.

The friend added: 'She feel rejected in her marriage and that he music career is really on the skids. She watched the Grammys recently - not so long ago she would have been up there on stage, now that seems like a distant memory.

'She feels a failure professionally and unloved in her personal life. It's as if she is getting a kick out of doing increasingly erratic things just to see how the public and media react.

'Sadly, she is getting confused by what she sees as adoration, when it's actually her fans reacting in horror.'

Moments after shaving her own head in Esther's Haircutting Studio in Tarzana, Calif., a teary Britney Spears blurted out, "'My mom is going to freak,'" according to salon owner Esther Tognozzi, who says she tried to talk the pop star out of her radical do.

Spears, 25, stopped by the San Fernando Valley salon at around 7 p.m. Friday night after it had closed.

Accompanied by two bodyguards, Spears walked in with a hoodie covering her head and told Tognozzi, "'I want you to buzz my hair off.'"

Tognozzi first tried to talk Spears out of going through with the shave, then after refusing the pop star's request, Spears told her, "'Then I'll do it.'"

During Spears's visit, Tognozzi describes the pop star as having "no expression." However, she notes Spears smiled for the cameras when waiting photographers caught sight of her newly shorn look inside the salon.

Spears wasn't charged for her buzz cut (usually $20 for men), but Tognozzi says, "Now I'm charging $200 for the Brit-Buzz Special!"

Before Spears slipped out the back door, Tognozzi asked her if the buzz cut was a symbol of a new beginning. Spears's response: "'Something like that.'"

Her father and mother divorced before she was two years old and her childhood dream was to be next Marilyn Monroe. She was married at age 17 to a 16 year old cook at the small time diner where they both worked. She gave birth to a son in 1986 and after working at WalMart and Red Lobster she took a job at a strip club to support herself and her young son.

It was while working at Gigi's strip club in Houston Texas that she met the octogenarian oil tycoon Howard Marshall, who courted her for two years as she broke into exotic modelling and was named Playboy's Playmate of the year in 1993.

She then secured a lucrative contract to replace supermodel Cluadia Schiffer as the star of a guess? Jeans and campaign. She married Marshall in June 1994 when she was 26 and he was 89. Most people Believed that she married him for his money. But though she reportedly never lived with him, Smith maintained she loved her husband and that age did not matter to her.

Marshall died in August 1995 after 14 months of marriage, sparking a bitter battle for his 1.6 billion dollar fortune between Smith and his son E Pierce Marshall.

The complicated case reached as high as the US Supreme court but remained unresolved at the time of her death.

Unable to access the cash left by her late husband, and after several critically panned movie, by 2002 she jumped on the reality TV show bandwagon with a show that highlighted her bizarre antics and battles with her weight.

She also became a spokeswoman for diet regimen TrimSpa, which helped her lose 36 kg and regain her trim shape from the 1990s.

David Granoff, Smith's former publicist, told MSNBC that he was "sad, but not shocked" by Smith's death. he added that there was "Just no spark in her any more."

Miss Minogue, who referred lovingly to 41 year old Martinez Ollie, now speaks of him only as "The Frenchman."

She said on Tuesday night: "I have struggled all day to think of what to say tonight. There are so many friends here tonight so i Thank you all."
