Cristiano Ronaldo and his girlfriend Nereida Gallardo added extra heat to the already soaring temperatures in Sardinia yesterday with a romantic beach front display.

The couple put on many a public display of affection on their romantic getaway, showering each other with kisses as they relaxed on a sun lounger.

They seemed unconcerned by the presence of fellow beach goers, no doubt surprising onlookers with their affectionate behaviour.

The pair have reportedly been sailing around the Mediterranean after Ronaldo hired out a £10million luxury yacht.

Ronaldo chose to holiday with his girlfriend rather than clear up the confusion over whether he will honour the four remaining years of his Manchester United contract or succumb to a bid by Real Madrid which could reportedly earn him £180,000 a week.

Some newspapers have estimated Ronaldo could receive a £80million transfer fee.

The Manchester United player has been dating Nereida, a struggling model who worked in health care, since January after the pair met at a Spanish nightclub.

In return, she proved she takes her role as a WAG seriously, turning up to a match at Old Trafford in April wearing a specially-designed 'R7' logo diamond earring in honour of the striker's United number 7 shirt.

A source has said: 'She's totally smitten and so is he.

Friends of the couple predict Gallardo is close to moving in with Ronaldo at his £4million mansion in Alderly Edge, Cheshire.

Earlier this month, Ronaldo purchased a £80,000 black Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet, which is believed to be a gift for her new love.

The committed relationship is an apparent change of pace for Ronaldo, 23, following last year's scandal which saw him reportedly straying off-side with five call girls in a wild night at his home in Cheshire.
