Who's cozying up to Kate now?

Luffy | Thursday, May 31, 2007 | 0 comments
Hello - who's this? Kate Middleton's out on the town again, and she appears to have acquired A Friend.

Since she broke up with Prince William, 25-year-old Kate has become something of a fixture on the London club circuit (or at least its more Sloaney reaches).

Her mystery man got Middleton laughing as they left the club

However, her usual companion when out partying has been her younger - and from what one gathers, highly socially ambitious - sister Pippa, 22.

And now this. One does not want to leap to unwarranted conclusions, but as she and her male friend were driven away from the Mahiki club in Dover Street last night, they did seem to be giving each other an uncommonly fond look in the back of the car.

There was no shortage of male attention for Kate - she was spotted with another mystery man in a blue shirt that same night.

But it was the gentlemen in the pink shirt that appeared to catch her attention. And yes, the girl does seem to look rather happy.

Quite radiant, in fact. The last time Kate was snapped looking so pleased with life in the back of a car, she was gazing into the eyes of Prince William, and such was the look of love they exchanged that most of us thought that wedding bells could not be far off.

Oh well, you can’t get it right all the time.

Kate was out at Mahiki and then Boujis, accompanied by friends including William’s old pal Guy Pelly.

As to the identity of Kate’s main companion, that is for the moment a mystery - but it will not, we suspect, remain so for long.

No one could accuse her of being inconsistent. Those cords, that pink gingham shirt, the cufflinks, even the well-polished loafers - he could not look more like an inhabitant of the Fulham- Gloucestershire-Sandhurst social triangle if he tried.

As for that receding hairline - well, let us just say that it won’t be the first time that Kate has been squired by a young man going prematurely thin on top.

It's Big Sister as 11 female housemates enter Big Brother house

Luffy | Wednesday, May 30, 2007 | 0 comments
Big Brother 8 kicked off tonight with an all-girl house, complete with the reality show's first identical twins, a bi-sexual political protester and a Victoria Beckham wannabe.

The all-girl mob will have to wait until Friday for the first man to appear, Davina told viewers.

Bubbly blondes Sam and Amanda were the first to arrive.

Twincredible: the bubbly, shrieking duo Amanda and Sam, with matching outfits and lollipops, were first to arrive at house

The 18 year-old twins describe themselves as "twincredible", model themselves on Barbie, and introduce themselves to boys with their own "Twin Song".

They have said they would happily share any man in the house as 'he'll never know the difference'.

As the car pulled up containing the pair, the crowd were already booing.

Wearing white tops, matching skirts and shoes, the twins - with different coloured garlands around their necks - clutched red and white lollipops as they entered the house.

Once inside, they promptly both got into the white bath - without water - in the living room before running around, still screeching.

They are joined by Posh Spice wannabe Chanelle, pink-haired raver Tracey and Tory student Emily.

'Flirtatious and hot' Charley, cousin of Manchester United star Kieran Richardson, and posh Tory Emily

Emily, a 19-year-old performing arts student from Bristol, posed for photographers and later twirled in front of the crowd, before curtseying as she entered the house.

She described herself in her pre-recorded interview as a Tory voter, and gave herself 10 out of 10 for intelligence.

She described how she was reading from the age of two and had been involved in drama and theatre since she was five.

Former lap dancer Charley is the cousin of Manchester United star Kieran Richardson, who she tags along with to go bar-hopping around Manchester so she can meet 'hot footballers'.

Women's Institute member and former Cambridge don Lesley is the oldest ever housemate at 60.

Nicky started life in a Mother Teresa orphanage in Mumbai, India, before being adopted and moving to Watford.

She dismissed men as "nasty little creatures", saying she couldn't tolerate them at the moment, which is handy considering the house will initially be a man-free zone.

Nicky, left, made a quiet entrance, while Shabnam was nervous - or so she said. Was that a ploy?

Carole is a life-long political protester and member of George Galloway's anti-war Respect Party. Carole said of her arrival in the house: "I am gonna shake it something rotten."

She blew kisses to the crowd to loud applause, and screamed as she entered the house. Meeting the twins, she said: "Oh, this is going to be fun."

The line-up is completed by receptionist Shabnam and a nanny called Laura - nicknamed "Wangers" because of her large breasts - and who dreams of owning a funeral parlour.

Laura, 23, from south Wales looked relaxed as as she emerged from her car dressed head to toe in black, topped off with a hot pink belt.

The housemates looked horrified as it slowly dawned that they had entered a man-free zone. But Big Brother is rumoured to be introducing a hunky male contestant on Friday.

Twins Sam and Amanda said before they went into the house: "If there's only one fit boy in the house we'll share him, definitely. He'll never know the difference!"

The housemates are competing for a £100,000 prize - and some of them are definitely playing to win.

Nicky promised to release her "inner bitch" while Emily's motto is: "I don't do losing. I win. Team Emily."

Next up was 60-year-old Lesley, who McCall said counts Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall as acquaintances.

Wearing a conservative white jacket and black trousers, she also received some boos from the crowd before going into the house.

The twins screeched again as the second housemate opened the door and introduced themselves.

One said: "Nice to meet you, we're twins", to which Lesley replied "No?!"

Charley, a 21-year-old from south London, was next. She said in her video: "I love money" before revealing she had been fired from every job she has ever had.

In denim hotpants and a low-cut pinstripe shirt, the self-proclaimed London "It Girl" was also booed as she walked through the crowds up the steps to the house.

McCall revealed she was taking 60 pairs of knickers into the house, as some members of the crowd already chanted: "Get her out."

The twins mobbed her as she entered the house and asked: "Have you seen the pinkness?" Charley said: "Twins, wow that's amazing."

Tracey, a 36-year-old cleaner from Cambridgeshire, described herself as a raver and said she would provide the "buzz" in the house.

She said: "I'm a raver, man - I'm a cheesy quaver. I buzz off anything and anyone. "I'm a nice person, I don't argue with people, so if they can't deal with me... unlucky Kentucky."

Dressed in a patchwork-style, brightly-coloured jacket and with pink hair, she grinned widely, swore and shouted "get in" to the crowd, who greeted her warmly.

Walking down the stairs into the house, she said: "Bye then world, see you in a bit." Looking around the house, she added: "It does look proper small, but I can deal with it."

The next girl to enter the house was Victoria Beckham wannabe, Chanelle.

The 19-year-old stepped out of her car and put down her small grey case before striking a pouty pose for the photographers.

Host McCall told viewers that Rebecca Loos - who claimed to have an affair with David Beckham - was one of the things that makes Chanelle "most angry".

It's Victoria Beckham!...or is it BB housemate Chanelle who recently had her hair cut to look like her WAG idol

Quickly hurrying into the house to a muted response from the crowd, Chanelle stopped at the bottom of the stairs to check her hair before walking into greet her housemates.

She told them: "That was awful".

Davina McCall, wearing a black skirt and shiny leather jacket, kicked off the live launch show from Elstree studios in Borehamwood, Herts.

The 14-week series began with a televised apology over the Celebrity Big Brother race row.

Media watchdog Ofcom ordered Channel 4 to say sorry over its handling of the scandal, which prompted over 45,000 viewers to complain about the treatment of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty by Jade Goody, Danielle Lloyd and Jo O'Meara.

Channel 4 bosses will be hoping to avoid a similar scenario this series.

House rules have been updated to warn against bullying and to make clear that it is unacceptable to make offensive remarks on the grounds of race, religion or sexuality.

Moments before the programme started, Ofcom's summary of adjudication was broadcast detailing the channel's "significant failings" in relation to the race row on the celebrity show.

It said: "In January 2007, Ofcom received over 44,500 complaints mainly about potentially racist material. Ofcom has concluded that Channel 4 failed to handle appropriately the strong content it was transmitting.

"This resulted in breaches of the Ofcom broadcasting code which is designed to ensure that when broadcasters show potentially offensive material, they do so in a way which offers adequate protection to the viewer."

The broadcaster had breached the code three times, and again by repeating one of the "incidents" on its early morning show, the summary continued.

There was another "serious failure" in Channel 4's compliance processes which meant it was not aware of all the relevant activity in the house at what was described by the watchdog as a "particularly critical time".

It said: "This compounded its failure to ensure compliance with the code.

"These are significant failings. Ofcom has therefore imposed formal sanction on Channel 4 directing it to broadcast this statement.

"This ensures that the largest number of viewers will be made fully aware of the seriousness of Channel 4's failure to comply."

At the beginning of the opening show, McCall immediately scotched rumours that the series would feature a gay marriage and another that one of the housemates had gone missing.

Davina in the Big Brother diary room - what tears and tantrums will we see this year?

She toured the house and garden, which allowed the housemates "nowhere to hide".

The housemates have been kept in hiding for the last two weeks before entering the Big Brother house tonight.

Bookmakers William Hill have already installed Carole as their 8/1 favourite to win, with Laura second favourite at 9/1 and Charley on the longest odds at 25/1.

Coral is offering odds of 4/6 that the winner has not yet entered the all-girl house.

Lindsay Lohan poles dances - and this time it's for a film

Luffy | Friday, May 25, 2007 | 0 comments
Lindsay Lohan as a pole-dancing stripper? No, it's not a night out with the wild child but scenes from her latest movie, 'I Know Who Killed Me'.

In a departure from the light-hearted fare the 20-year-old actress is usually associated with, Lohan plays pole-dancing stripper Audrey Fleming - a young woman who is abducted and tortured by a sadistic serial killer.

When Fleming returns home, she claims to be someone else, raising questions as to whether she is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder or if something more sinister is going on.

Lohan is currently one of Hollywood's most bankable female stars.

In a conscious effort to leave behind the 'teen' movies which made her famous, she has chosen more adult dramas, such as 2006's 'A Prairie Home Companion' opposite Meryl Streep and 'Bobby', to demonstrate her versatile acting talents.

However in stark contrast to her contemporaries Scarlett Johansson and Keira Knightley, it's Lohan's turbulent lovelife which seems to gain more recognition than her film work.

In the past year alone, the actress has been linked romantically to James Franco, Benico Del Toro, Jude Law, James Blunt and Calum Best.

Kylie's dirty dance with Sharon Stone

Luffy | Thursday, May 24, 2007 | 0 comments
They were a sight for sore eyes - a pop-princess and a Hollywood sex symbol, dirty-dancing in the name of charity in front of a star-studded audience in Cannes.

Sexy hostess Sharon Stone joined singer Kylie Minogue onstage for a sizzling duet coupled which brought the house down after cajoling the singer into an impromptu performance.

Kylie agreed to sing two songs - with Stone providing the backing - after an audience in Cannes agreed to donate £200,000 a tune to an Aids charity.

The annual American Foundation for Aids Research party has established itself as one of the social highlights of the Cannes film festival and this year's event, held at Le Moulin de Mougins, did not disappoint.

Minogue, firmly back on the scene after her much publicised battle with cancer, agreed to sing Can't Get You Out Of My Head and The Locomotion - after £ 400,000 was raised. Stone, who hosted last night's event, could not resist the opportunity to sing along.

The guests, who had paid £2,500 each for their tickets, could not have been more delighted. They are reported to have whooped and hollered at the climax of each song.

This year's charity party attracted some of the biggest names in Hollywood, among them George Clooney, Matt Damon, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, as well as supermodels Claudia Schiffer, Elle Macpherson and Naomi Campbell.

Campbell, who celebrated her 37th birthday two days ago, said: "I was roped into this by Sharon. I'll do anything for her."

Michelle Rodriguez, the Lost actress who has been linked to Minogue's ex Olivier Martinez, was also at the event but said of the Frenchman: "He's just a good friend."

Others performing included Julian Lennon and the burlesque artiste Dita Von Teese. She gave what one report described as a "trademark" dance, performing around a giant 9ft lipstick.

Kylie, 38, has been a busy lady of late, and it seems is plotting world domination.

As the singer left her London home with her ever-present stylist William Baker, he held an envelope on which appeared to be scribbled evidence of her non-stop agenda.

It starts with the word "mugs", suggesting she needs to do some shopping for the kitchen.

Next comes the phrase "tour next year".

Her Showgirls world tour only ended a few months ago. Fans will be thrilled to learn she plans another so soon.

Next is a note to remind her about her deal with Coty perfume. The 37-year-old was signed up as the face of the scent this spring.

Then come the words "Songs to Parkinson" – perhaps a reference to tracks she plans to sing on the ITV chat show.

The next note appears to relate to Miss Minogue producing promotional material for a film project.

Then "Acting coach number" is followed by "When Dr Who script arriving?" and "Russell’s number" – which most likely refers to Miss Minogue’s wish to get the phone number of Russell T Davies, head writer of BBC’s most recent Doctor Who series.

She is soon to have a role in the sci-fi drama.

The secrets behind Angelina's tattoos

Luffy | Tuesday, May 22, 2007 | 1comments
She is one of the most photographed women in the world - and now one of the most tattooed.

After attending the world premiere of her latest movie, Angelina Jolie revealed her latest set of body art - geographical map coordinates accurately detailing the countries of birth of each member of her "rainbow family".

Walking down the red carpet in Cannes to promote her movie, A Mighty Heart, the 31-year-old actress kept the new tattoos hidden, using her boyfriend, Brad Pitt, as a human shield.

But as the couple made their way down the festival's famous Croisette in a chauffeur-driven car afterwards, the four-part scribing on her left shoulder was plainly visible.

Each line, it has emerged, represents the very international map coordinates detailing where their four children, three of which were adopted, were born.

From the top down, and from left to right, is the longitudinal and latitudinal location of Cambodia, where the Oscar-winning actress' eldest son, Maddox, five, was born.

Next are the coordinates pertaining to Ethiopia, the country from which Miss Jolie plucked two-year-old Zahara.

Third on the list is Namibia, where the Tomb Raider star gave birth to her ten-month-old biological daughter, Shiloh, whose name in Hebrew means "the peaceful one".

Last but not least is a reference to the latest addition to the couple's rainbow family - Pax Thien, who is Vietnamese by origin.

The three-year-old boy was taken from an orphanage in March, amid claims that the Hollywood couple had unfairly fast-tracked the adoption process.

Interestingly, beneath her latest ink inscriptions, Miss Jolie appeared to be sporting some heavy bruising - a common side effect of tattooing.

"Most of Angelina's tattoos are pretty discreet but these map coordinates really stand out," said a festival onlooker. "When she made her way up the red carpet, she kept her arm hidden behind Brad, and looked really elegant in a demure black dress and peep toe heels.

"But when she unearthed them later in the night, she really did look like a bit of a bruiser. While the significance of these tattoos is undoubtedly poignant, this probably wasn't the look she had in mind when she got the coordinates done."

The latest tattoo is understood to be Miss Jolie's 13th to date.

She already has a discreet M on the palm of her hand - a tribute to her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who died earlier this year.

On top of this, she has a Buddhist Pali prayer written in the Khmer script for Maddox as well as a Tennessee Williams quote, "A prayer for the wild at heart kept in cages".

Angelina Jolie's new tattoos have been inscribed in the same spot where a tribute to her ex-husband Billy Bob Thronton once lay.

His name was tattooed onto her left arm along with a Chinese dragon - the remnants of which are still faintly visible even after laser removal surgery.

She said at the time of the laser treatment: "I'll never be stupid enough to have a man's name tattooed on me again."

Daring Catherine Tate takes the plunge at the Baftas

Luffy | Monday, May 21, 2007 | 1comments
Comedian Catherine Tate may have demanded the red carpet spotlight in a head-turning dress, complete with very daring plunging neckline, but it was Victoria Wood who eventually stole the night at this year's TV Baftas.

Wood proving that her serious side, it seems, is just as well developed as her funny bone.

For a rare dramatic foray in her 30-year career, Wood was handed two top prizes at the awards.

Miss Wood, who turned 54 on the weekend, beat a trio of rising stars to be named best actress for her performance in ITV’s Housewife, 49.

The poignant piece set during the Second World War, which she wrote based on the diaries of Nella Last, also won best single drama.

She collected her awards to rapturous applause from the crowd at the London Palladium.

Stars of British TV were out in force, including comedienne Catherine Tate, who wore a plunging black gown by Moschino, and Davina McCall, showing off her svelte post-pregnancy figure in a Diane von Furstenberg dress slit to the thigh.

Miss Wood, who wore an elegant blue chiffon gown by British designer Betty Jackson, now has seven Baftas in total – one of the highest tallies ever.

On stage she said: "I didn’t bring a joke with me because I wasn’t expecting to win either of them [nominations]."

She also paid tribute to her three fellow nominees for best actress, Anne-Marie Duff, Ruth Wilson and Samantha Morton, saying:

"They have got a long time ahead of them to win this because I am quite old now."

Ricky Gervais matched her awards total last night after winning best comedy performance for his role in Extras.

He was filming in the U.S. so it was left to his co-star Stephen Merchant, who he beat to the prize, to pick it up on his behalf.

On stage, Merchant joked: "He could have mentioned this before – talk about rubbing salt in the wounds."

In other results, BBC2's That Mitchell & Webb Look was named best comedy programme, and The Royle Family episode entitled Queen of Sheba picked up the best situation comedy award.

Best actor: Jim Broadbent

Jonathan Ross picked up the best entertainment performance award for the second year in a row, his third Bafta.

The popular drama Life On Mars had been hotly tipped to take best drama series and best actor for John Simm but ended up with neither.

It did, however, win the audience award for best programme. Helen Mirren was also dealt a rare snub when Prime Suspect was eclipsed by ITV’s See No Evil: The Moors Murders for best drama serial.

Jim Broadbent received the best actor award for his portrayal of Lord Longford in the Channel 4 drama about the peer's attempts to free Hindley from prison.

BBC1's Casualty was the surprise of the night, winning best soap for the first time and Jimmy McGovern, who wrote The Street for BBC1, was handed the best drama series award.

Screenwriter Richard Curtis, of Notting Hill and Blackadder fame, received a fellowship award and The Queen producer Andy Harries received a special award.

Sienna loses control

Luffy | Sunday, May 20, 2007 | 0 comments
They say that once you've learned to ride a bike, you never forget.

But it looks as if Sienna Miller could do with a helping hand as she struggles to keep steady on two wheels.

The 25-year-old actress even appeared to come a cropper and ended up with a nasty cut on her forehead.

Fortunately, it was all in the line of work. Sienna was filming a scene for her latest movie and her painful-looking injury was simply make-up. And any particularly risky activity on the bike was performed by a stunt double.

Sienna was pictured in New Quay, West Wales, where work is under way on The Edge Of Love.

The movie is about a love triangle in the life of Dylan Thomas. Matthew Rhys plays the Welsh poet, Sienna is his wife Caitlin and Keira Knightley plays Thomas's childhood friend Vera Killick. The film is due to be released next year.

During filming, Sienna's blonde locks have been turned red and she has ditched her usual bohemian look for a more traditional Forties style.

Wearing a light blue, knee-length dress, a light grey woolly cardigan and sensible pump-style shoes, the actress looked every inch the wartime housewife.

But the look is not likely to be one the actress intends to promote with the launch of her new clothing line in September.

Sienna is following in the footsteps of Kate Moss, Lily Allen, Madonna and Kylie Minogue by making her mark on the world of fashion. She is teaming up with her sister Savannah to launch their own fashion line, called Twenty8Twelve.

Bra-less Victoria Beckham shows off her little 'flowers'

Luffy | Friday, May 18, 2007 | 0 comments
Criticism of Victoria Beckham's nipple-flashing displays must have finally got to her - as she tries and miserably fails to make the offending items look somewhat less obtrusive.

Dressed head to toe in skintight black lycra, Victoria's sheer top reveals she opted for a little help from a couple of little flowers.

A little help from her flowers: A bra-less Victoria Beckham tries to solve her nipple-flashing problem and fails miserably as the breast covers are clearly visible through her sheer skimpy top

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Exhibit number 1: Victoria has been seen out numerous times suffering from a severe case of the protruding nipples. However her efforts to solve them, has not been successful

No doubt pre-empting the inevitable criticism which usually follows a Posh public appearance, forward thinking Victoria has opted to cover up with what lingerie website Figleaves.com describes as 'breast covers'.

Petal Tops, available at the non-designer price of £5.99, claim to be 'natural-looking and discreet under sheer and tight fabrics which mould to the breast'.

On the evidence presented - it would seem that it is not entirely the case.
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Unfortunately, the so-called natural colour is distinctly obvious under the sheer fabric of her skimpy camisole top.

How do you solve a problem like Posh? Dressing in a top which doesn't resemble underwear might be a start to the conundrum of Posh's eternally protruding nipples.

Here's a radical idea, why not do what the rest of us do - invest in a bra!

In another low-note for Posh, her efforts to conquer America have hit a bump: her reality show has been relegated from mainstream television to cable.

Network NBC reportedly paid £10 million for the fly-on-the-wall series - which Posh has just started filming - but has decided to bump it to a sister cable channel, Bravo.

A source told the Daily Star: "This is a delicate situation for Victoria. She doesn't mind being on Bravo but this is a multi-million-pound deal.

"The idea was to help launch her in America to a new audience, on a mainstream channel. Now that is not the case."

Amy's not-so-glamorous poolside display of tattoos and scars

Luffy | Friday, May 18, 2007 | 1comments
Engaged singer Amy Winehouse puts on a show poolside - but she ditches the designer bikini for an old pair of cut-off denim shorts, lacy black bra-top - and a display of wild sailor-style tattoos and old scars.

Amy showed off her unusual 'body art' at an exclusive resort in Miami Beach, where she is enjoying a sun-drenched break with fiance Blake Fielder-Civil.

The rail-thin singer, looked somewhat out of place in the gorgeous surroundings in her tatty shorts, layer of black-inked tattoos, and heavily scarred arms which betray a legacy of self-harm.

Amy admitted to self-harming in an interview with a music magazine. She told Q magazine: "It's a funny thing, a morbid curiosity. What does that feel like? 'Ow, that f*****g hurts.' It's probably the worst thing I've done."

And speaking about her 13 tattoos, she said: "It's a way of suffering for the things that mean a lot to you. Actually I like the pain. To me, it relieves you."

The singer has changed dramatically since she first burst into the charts in 2003. Her jazz-influenced torch-singer style has been rapidly replaced by a hard-drinking, rock and roll lifestyle, coupled with drastic weightloss which has caused concern for her well-being.

Winehouse, who has been doing a series of warm-up gigs in the US before she starts touring in September dismissed reports she is in Miami for a quickie wedding this week.

Although she seems very loved up with fiance Fielder-Civil, the inspiration for her smash album Back to Black, she told The Mirror talk of a wedding was premature: "We're just chilling out, having a good time...We only just got engaged!".

A joint before the joint? Prison-bound Paris pictured smoking cannabis

Luffy | Tuesday, May 15, 2007 | 0 comments
Just when she thought things couldn't possibly get any worse, pictures have surfaced of Paris Hilton surreptitiously smoking cannabis.

The 26-year-old heiress was photographed allegedly smoking a joint while backstage at last month's Coachella music festival.

Paris attended the event with a group of pals weeks before her court hearing, but clearly wasn't concerned about keeping out of trouble ahead of the case.

Hilton now faces a 45-day jail term for for driving while her licence was suspended.

As it stands, Hilton - who has appealed to the Governor Arnold Schwartzenegger for a pardon via an online petition - is scheduled to be admitted to jail on June 5.

The online Free Paris Hilton petition has gathered more than 25,000 signatures - but unfortunately for the reality TV star, a rival campaign, Jail Paris Hilton, is twice as popular, with more than 60,000 supporters.

Hilton can expect tough conditions at LA's Century Regional Detention Center where is set to serve her time.

Her cell will be approximately 12 feet by 8 feet and feature very basic amenities such as a sink, toilet and mirror.

According to reports, inmates are forbidden from wearing makeup and hair extensions, and are allowed only two pairs of socks and underpants.

Hilton, who has been making the most of her freedom with bike rides, shopping trips and even a church visit, is said to be in a fragile state of mind as her sentence looms.

Dr. Charles Sophy, Hilton's psychiatrist, wrote in a report: "She is emotionally distraught and traumatized as a consequence of the findings at the May 4 hearing, the jail sentence imposed upon her by the judge, and her fear of incarceration."

The assessment was part of a document given to an LA court in relation to £5 million slander and libel suit against Hilton by actress Zeta Graff.

Hilton is scheduled to testify in the trial next week, however Dr. Sophy contends that in her current state, she is "not capable of any meaningful participation in a trial."
